Moksha is the concluding piece in the odissi repertoire. It is distinct in its exceedingly intricate and interwoven rhythmic patterns of singular beauty, laying emphasis on pure dance. The movements are very graceful and lyrical. Here, it is applicable not only to the dance but also to the music, which accompanies it. This sculpturic poses are linked through footwork best on rhythamic variation. Various poses adorning the odissi temple walls are the foundation of the choreography. It is the second piece in the traditional odissi repertoire. Then follows a prayer to Lord Ganesh, remover of all obstacles.īattu is an item of Nritta or pure dance.
